Remove old custom field name

Is there a way to remove the custom field names that are already store in my database?

I created a list of fields at the beginning but later I decided to change my mind, and I realize even when I’m using the old fields I’m still able to get data out of it….

Is there solution to this, I don’t mind deleting straight away from the database itself if necessary.

I deal with it either by

1. creating a copy of the site with Duplicator, and then deleting the fields from the database to see what happens, or
2. ignoring the extra field names in the database – it’s only a couple of rows.

I used to get hung up about the redundant names but after the initial development it seems to become irrelevant
Hope that’s of some use.
