Possible to filter posts in post object by custom taxonomy?

Are there any add-ons or code samples available that allow the post-object field to show custom taxonomies in the “Filter from Taxonomy” selection area?

I’d like my client to be able to only select from posts marked as “active” in their custom taxonomy, but haven’t found a way to do it.

Any help, or push in the right direction would be appropriated!
