Link fields on Taxonomy empty after site url changes

  • If I use a link field on a taxonomy on a site build, when I come to move the site to live and change its URL, I find the the links have gone/lost their content. This has happened on a couple of site now and is a bit of a pain to go through and recreate all the links.

I’ve definitely had it happen for taxonomies and also it might have occurred with link fields on standard pages also.

I have seen this when changing the site URLs via SQL queries and via a good old fashioned find and replace on the SQL file. It might be that things like the ‘Duplicator’ plugin might not have this issue but I often deal with locked down client servers which timeout easily, so I need to stick to such methods as they are usually reliable.

Has anyone else seen this issue?
