ACF Fields not visible in Gutenberg – workaround?

  • I am aware that this has to do with meta boxes:

I have WordPress 5.0.1 and I have a content type. When viewing the items of this content type in WP backend, nothing is displayed. I had to download a plugin that allows the user to choose on whether to edit the post using the classic editor or using Gutenberg editor, which is a bit of a pain.

Are there any workarounds for this? Maybe a way to force the display of a custom post type in classic editor mode by default w/o having to use a plugin?

    Thanks!
