ACF: Better Search

  • Hello all!,

I would like to introduce you to my new plugin.

I made an add-on to Advanced Custom Fields plugin that modifies the default search in WordPress. In addition to searching the title and the field of content are taken into account also the fields of Advanced Custom Fields.

Everything works automatically, no need to add any additional code.

From what I know this problem disturbs many web developers. My plugin is small and perfectly solves this problem. The user can customize the type of fields to be taken into consideration during the search.

    Please see my plugin:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/acf-better-search/

Check it out and write what you think. Thank you in advance for any answers!

Hi, thank you for your work,
For me it don’t seems to work well. For exemple, I have a ACF text entry named “Auteur” in which I’ve a name written “ASHBY, ROBERT H.”.
To try the plugin I wrote “ASHBY, ROBERT H.” in the search field but it returns “No posts found.”
I’ve set the plugin to detect Text Fields.

    Anny idea ?
    Thanks

  • Hi,

I think this is a problem in your code. I have prepared an example showing that everythings works properly.

  • Great plug in, is there a way to add search term highlighting to this, Ideally so it can pull out a sentence from any ACF field and display it in the search results without showing the entire content of the field .. I’m trying to do this myself but haven’t got there yet

  • Thank you for opinion. I will be grateful if you add a review here.

Unfortunately, we don’t plan to add this option in plugin yet, but we will think about it in the future.
