In case someone lands here, couple updates as of early 2019:

• PhilippBaschke/acf-pro-installer package seems to have unresolved issues and author doesn’t actively support it anymore
• There is an alternative package that supports not only ACF Pro but other commercial plugins as well (or, in fact, arbitrary private packages) – ffraenz/private-composer-installer
• If you’re using newer vlucas/phpdotenv (v3) library, both packages will fail. Although I’ve made a PR to ffraenz/private-composer-installer to address this and it may be merged soon
