We too are having this problem with repeater fields in certain field groups.
We are unable to update max_vars setting due to use of Rackspace Cloud Sites, but we are confident that the form data is not too extensive anyway (since only 68 items display in form data on the POST).
Please advise if there are any other potential issues.
