There shouldn’t be a problem. You probably won’t be able to updated it automatically while it’s on your local machine. Just update it manually until you make your site live and register it then. The only thing that registering it does if give you automatic updates for the site it’s on. You can always get the latest version by logging into your account after you make the purchase.
