My guess is that @izstubbz failed to notice this in the example:
// 3. Hide ACF field group menu item
add_filter(‘acf/settings/show_admin’, ‘__return_false’);
That would hide ACF from wp-admin so even if it’s correctly integrated he/she wouldn’t see it.
