Actually since the user field uses select2 it pretty much has these abilities already I’d say.. You can search for users directly in the field, add multiple users and easily remove them.
It’s pretty much the same as a relationship-field except it looks and behaves a bit different (and of course there’s no taxonomy filtering and stuff like that but that’s obvious why not)
