I agree, this is already available for radio type fields, it would be nice to have this ability with select fileds. Adding it to checkbox fields would also be nice, though I think that would be a bit more complicated because they may want to add more than one value at a time.
Generally when I want this I use the radio field figuring that eventually this will be added to select and I can easily transition, I hope. 🙂
