Are you using a theme that you got from somewhere or is it something you built? Do you have any plugins installed that either work with ACF or use ACF fields. The filter could be anywhere, but there must be a filter somewhere that is requiring images in gallery fields. Try a different theme. Try deactivating other plugins.
