Integration with Wordpress SEO plugin
  • Hi Elliot,

I was chatting to Yoast via Twitter (he created the Wordpress SEO plugin which is massive!!), I mentioned your plugin to him so if he didn't know about it before he certainly does now!

I was trying figure out how his plugin analyses the page content. It seems it disregards custom fields created with your plugin.

So when it's analysing the page content it just looks for the main WP wysiwyg and doesn't pick up any of the custom fields.

I know you mentioned about your plugin getting more attention (and rightly so!) so perhaps it's maybe something to keep an eye on to integrate with? I think if you get in with him then your onto a winner (he has 20k followers on Twitter!!).

    Cheers.
  • I've included some screenshot's. As you can see "content" is showing zero keywords even though there is one in there.

This is because the content area is a custom field and the seo plugin looks for the typical WP wysiwyg.

Also, the page analysis doesn't take into account the custom fields either:

  • +1 on this topic.
Would be really cool if yoast seo plugin could see all the contents generated by custom fields.
But i don't know if is a problem of Yoast SEO that don't see the custom fields contents or ACF that don't send infos in a way that Yoast Seo plugin can read them.
  • Hi,

I have still the theme issues. I use WP 3.3.1 with ACF 3.1.1.
    How can I fix it?

    Thanks
  • +1 on this topic also. and agree with rics, maybe a yoast issue also.
  • Anyone found a way around to this?
  • Hey guys.

I'd love to help, but unfortunately this is a feature request for the SEO plugin, not ACF.

Hopefully Yoast will add support for custom fields (not sure how this would work though...)

    Thanks for your support
    Elliot
  • Yeah, it looks like it's something they'll have to sort out. Just left a comment on they're support forum.

Thanks for this kick ass plugin!
  • I would really like to see these two great plugins get along.

I wonder if there is a way of getting ACF to copy the custom field data into the main/WP original content editor (we wouldn't send this to the front-end to display), which Yoats SEO plugin could then check against?

Any developers out there that could think up a way of doing this?

    Just an idea...
